Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1: schizophrenia group:(1) Meeting the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia as defined in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) by the American Psychiatric Association; (2) Aged between 18 to 65 years; (3) Educational level of elementary school or higher, capable of understanding the experimental content and cooperating to complete the study; (4) Normal vision or corrected vision; (5) PANSS scale score greater than 30; (6) MOAS (Modified Overt Aggression Scale) score greater than 4; (7) Informed consent from the guardian and willingness to cooperate. 2: bipolar disorder group:(1) Meeting the diagnostic criteria for bipolar disorder as outlined in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) by the American Psychiatric Association; (2) Aged between 18 and 65 years; (3) At least a primary school education level, able to understand the study content and cooperate with participation; (4) Normal vision or corrected vision; (5) YAMS scale score > 5; (6) MOAS overt aggression scale score > 4; (7) Informed consent from a guardian who is cooperative. 3: health control group:(1) Age, gender, and years of education matched with the groups of patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; (2) No history of any psychiatric disorders and no family history. Other inclusion and exclusion criteria are consistent with those of the study group.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Coexisting organic brain diseases or other serious physical illnesses 2. History of using medications that affect cognitive function, such as atropine or benzodiazepines, within two weeks prior to enrollment 3. History of substance abuse involving tobacco, alcohol, or other psychoactive substances 4. History of electroconvulsive therapy within the past six months 5. Meeting the criteria for any other mental disorder as defined in DSM-5 6. Women of childbearing age who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
