Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for recreational athletes with chronic ankle instability in Stage 1 and Stage 3: 1.A history of at least one severe lateral ankle sprain, which occurred more than one year ago, accompanied by symptoms such as pain and swelling, and resulting in an interruption of daily activities for more than one day; 2.Age between 18 and 40 years old; 3.At least two episodes of ankle instability or "giving way" within the past six months; 4.Persistent feelings of ankle instability and functional impairment during daily activities; 5.A CAIT score of <=24 points; 6.Participation in moderate to high-intensity physical activities at least three times per week, with each session lasting no less than 20 minutes, and the types of activities including both contact and non-contact sports. Inclusion criteria for the Delphi expert panel in Stage 2: The Delphi expert panel will consist of experts from diverse professional backgrounds, including physical therapy, sports science, and biomechanics. The specific selection criteria are as follows: 1.Physical therapy educators must have at least three years of experience teaching musculoskeletal physical therapy; 2.Clinical therapists must have at least three years of experience treating chronic ankle instability or related musculoskeletal disorders; 3.Sports scientists must be individuals who specialize in the study of sports injuries and rehabilitation.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for stage 1 and stage 3 in recreational athletes with chronic ankle instability: 1. a history of lower limb fractures or surgeries; 2.any acute lower limb injuries within the past three months; 3.bilateral chronic ankle instability; 4.and any known neurological conditions that affect motor control.
