Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with cirrhosis who are admitted to the hospital due to acute decompensation (AD) and develop acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). The types of AD include ascites, bacterial infections, acute variceal bleeding, and hepatic encephalopathy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria include: (1) age = 2.0 mg/dL or patients receiving renal replacement therapy at the time of admission.
