Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Depression group inclusion criteria: meeting DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for depression; aged 18-25 years old; Han nationality; being right-handed; Hamilton Depression Scale score >17; not taking antidepressants in the past 2 weeks. Inclusion criteria for depression with NSSI: In addition to meeting the inclusion criteria for depression, the DSM-5 recommended diagnostic criteria for NSSI were: for at least 5 days in the past year, the individual has engaged in deliberate self-harm to a bodily surface that may induce bleeding, bruising, or pain (e.g., cutting, burning, stabbing, striking, excessive rubbing) and is expected to result in only mild or moderate bodily injury; Individuals engage in NSSI to obtain relief or solve interpersonal difficulties from negative sensory or cognitive states or to induce positive sensory states; these intentional NSSI were associated with interpersonal difficulties or negative feelings and thoughts, or with a period of indulgence in uncontrollable intentional behaviors or frequent thoughts of self-harm before engaging in the act;the behavior is not socially acceptable and is not limited to sores or nail-biting; the act or result causes clinically significant distress or interferes with interpersonal, academic, or other important functioning; the behavior does not occur only during psychotic episodes, delirium, substance intoxication, or substance withdrawal and is not better explained by other mental and physical disorders." The inclusion criteria of depression without NSSI were as follows: no suicide attempts and no self-harm behaviors on the basis of meeting the inclusion criteria of depression.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: With psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions; obvious psychological and physical predisposing factors; a history of serious physical diseases and brain organic diseases; those who received electroconvulsive therapy for less than half a year.
