Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Must meet the diagnostic criteria for a Major Depressive Episode as outlined in the DSM-5, be experiencing their first episode, and have no history of antidepressant use within the past six months. 2. Must have normal or corrected-to-normal vision, normal hearing, and be right-handed. 3. Must not currently meet the diagnostic criteria for psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or eating disorders.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant or postpartum women. 2. Current or past history of organic brain diseases (e.g., head trauma, history of seizures). 3. Substance abuse. 4. Severe cardiovascular, hepatic, renal, or endocrine disorders (e.g., thyroid dysfunction). 5.Patients with hematological, autoimmune, or other systemic medical conditions.
