Conditions

benign paroxysmal positional vertigo

Interventions

vestibular rehabilitation:Patients performed vestibular rehabilitation training for 30 minutes per session, twice daily, 5 days per week, over 4 weeks or until complete symptom resolution.
Brandt-Daroff exercise:Brandt-Daroff exercises were performed targeting the affected posterior or horizontal semicircular canal, three times daily, seven days per week, for four weeks or until complet

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Definite unilateral posterior or horizontal canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), including canalithiasis and cupulolithiasis types, diagnosed per the 2017 Chinese BPPV Practice Guidelines . 2. Aged 18–75 years. 3. Successful reduction through manual/instrumental means, with a reduction frequency of <= 3 times. After successful reduction, the chief complaint is the presence of residual symptoms (dizziness, instability, floating sensation, head heaviness or imbalance, etc.); 4. Normal communication capacity with written informed consent and willingness to comply with follow-up. 5. Absence of movement disorders (e.g., neuromuscular diseases, osteoporosis) permitting safe performance of vestibular rehabilitation exercises.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with multi-canal BPPV (=2 involved canals),anterior canal BPPV and bilateral BPPV. 2. Active inner ear pathologies including ménière’s disease, vestibular migraine, vestibular neuritis andpersistent postural-perceptual dizziness. 3. Medical conditions precluding safe Brandt-Daroff exercises severe cervical spondylosis, uncontrolled cardiovascular/cerebrovascular disease and central/vasogenic vertigo. 4. Pregnant/lactating women. 5. Current use of vestibular suppressants, anxiolytics and ototoxic medications. 6. The researcher believes that there are any other reasons that make it unsuitable to participate in this study.
