Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Unilateral upper limb motor dysfunction due to a first unilateral subcortical acute ischaemic stroke in the cerebral hemispheres. Unilateral upper limb motor dysfunction was defined as National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Q5a or Q5b >= 1; (2) Aged 55-80 years; (3) clear consciousness, normal vision, hearing, and language comprehension and expression, and the ability to cooperate with and complete the assessment of upper limb motor function; (4) sufficient MRI data to assess cerebral white matter high signal load; and (5) The patients themselves or their families voluntarily signed the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Motor dysfunction due to other previous brain diseases or bone and joint diseases; (2) Unstable condition, such as dysfunction of the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, or other vital organs, and severe loss of consciousness; regular use of psychiatric drugs. (3) Severe visual, and spatial deficits, hearing impairment, language impairment, or cognitive dysfunction; (4) Contraindications to MRI examination, including cochlear implants, metal dentures, pacemakers and other metal implants, claustrophobia, etc.
