Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age range: 40–80 years old 2. Inclusion of population Healthy individuals: No history of glucose or lipid metabolic abnormalities Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group: Diagnosed with glucose intolerance based on medical history or oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) results Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) group: Patients with type 2 diabetes and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels below 8% within the past three months

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Acute or chronic infectious or communicable diseases (e.g., fever, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, gastrointestinal infection, COPD, tuberculosis, syphilis, HIV/AIDS) 2. Acute cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases (e.g., acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, cerebral hemorrhage, stroke) 3. Liver diseases (e.g., acute or chronic hepatitis) 4. Thyroid disorders (e.g., hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism) 5. Malignant tumors (e.g., lung, liver, colorectal, or prostate cancer) 6. Severe malnutrition 7. Type 2 diabetes mellitus with significantly elevated blood glucose (HbA1c = 8% within the past three months) 8. Type 2 diabetes with acute complications (e.g., diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state) 9. Type 2 diabetes with diabetic nephropathy (chronic kidney disease stage 3 or higher) 10. Cognitive impairment or dementia 11. Type 1 diabetes mellitus
