16 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Aged 16 to 65 years; (2) Body mass index (BMI) = 27.5 kg/m2; (3) Upon evaluation by endocrinologists, a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus was confirmed; (4) After assessment by a multidisciplinary team, the patient was deemed suitable for metabolic bariatric surgery, with the chosen weight loss procedure being either sleeve gastrectomy or one anastomosis gastric bypass; (5) Absence of major organ dysfunction and other surgical contraindications.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Fasting serum C-peptide level is lower than half of the lower limit of normal value; (2) Diabetes history exceeding 15 years; (3) Secondary obesity; (4) Previous gastrointestinal surgery, such as gastroduodenal surgery, or metabolic bariatric surgery; (5) Presence of active peptic ulcer; (6) Patients with mental illness or poor adherence.
