Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Part I: Quantitative study of delayed medical consultation in patients with diabetic retinopathy Inclusion criteria: (1) patients with diabetic retinopathy aged =18 years who had not undergone funduscopic examination prior to the consultation; (2) patients who were conscious, had a fluent and logical language, and were able to understand the content of the questionnaire. Part II: Qualitative study of delayed medical consultation in patients with diabetic retinopathy Inclusion criteria: (1) patients with diabetic retinopathy aged =18 years with delayed medical consultation; (2) patients were conscious, fluent and logical, and able to understand the content of the questionnaire.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Part I: Quantitative study of delayed medical consultation in patients with diabetic retinopathy Exclusion criteria: (1) those who suffer from other serious physical illnesses and are unable to cooperate with the study; (2) those who are not clear about the exact time of onset of the disease; and (3) those who suffer from a combination of glaucoma, cataract, and other ophthalmological diseases. Part II: Qualitative study of delayed medical consultation in patients with diabetic retinopathy Exclusion Criteria: (1) patients with other serious physical illnesses who could not cooperate with the study; (2) patients who were not clear about the exact time of onset of the disease; (3) patients with other ophthalmological diseases such as glaucoma cataract.
