Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients presenting with their first-ever onset of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), within 72 hours of symptom onset, meeting the diagnostic criteria established by the Cerebrovascular Disease Group of the Chinese Society of Neurology (2018 revised edition). 2.TOAST classification can be conducted based on routine admission ancillary examinations, in accordance with etiological subtyping criteria. 3.The patient consented to undergo non-mydriatic portable fundus photography within 24 hours of admission. 4.Informed consent was obtained from the patient or their legal representatives. 5.18-80 years old.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with a documented history of stroke, including both ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. 2.Patients who underwent intravenous thrombolysis and/or endovascular therapy after the AIS onset. 3.Patients with a history of recent ocular surgery (within the preceding 3 months) or pre-existing ophthalmic conditions that may affect retinal vascular assessment; 4.Patients with suspected intracranial pathologies that may compromise retinal vascular integrity, including but not limited to intracranial neoplasms, arteriovenous malformations, hydrocephalus, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, and multiple sclerosis, were excluded following comprehensive neuro-ophthalmic evaluation. 5.Fundus images of inadequate quality for reliable analysis were excluded based on standardized quality assessment criteria, including insufficient illumination, poor focus, or significant media opacity. 6.Patients demonstrating hemorrhagic transformation or cerebral edema upon initial screening were excluded.
