Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Anesthesia group 1. Children who have received 3 or more times of general anesthesia for elective surgery before the age of 3 years; 2. ASA Grading I.-III; 3. No history of intestinal diseases; 4. Gestational age at birth of 36 weeks or more. Control group 1. Children matched to age and sex in the anesthesia group; 2. No anesthetic exposure; 3. ASA Grading I.-III; 4. No history of intestinal diseases; 5. Gestational age at birth of 36 weeks or more.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Preterm infants with gestational age < 36 weeks; 2.History of birth asphyxia; 3.Maternal exposure to general anesthesia during pregnancy; 4.Pre-existing developmental, cognitive, or behavioral disorders identified during pre-anesthesia screening; 5.Known conditions with potential impacts on neurodevelopment (e.g., genetic syndromes, epilepsy); 6.Children undergoing emergency surgeries; 7.Intraoperative adverse events (e.g., hypoxia, hemodynamic instability); 8.History of gastrointestinal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, or functional dyspepsia; 9.Antibiotic use within 2 weeks prior to stool sample collection; 10.Parental or guardian refusal to participate.
