Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants in the AD group met the clinical diagnostic criteria established by the National Institute of Aging-Alzheimer's Association (NIA-AA) in 2011. The specific criteria included: (a) Age between 50 and 85 years old. (b) Subjective complaints of memory decline verified by an informant. (c) Presence of single-domain or multi-domain cognitive decline, exceeding the mean for the same age and educational level by more than 1.5 standard deviations, with mild impairment in activities of daily living, meeting the diagnostic criteria for dementia (DSM-IV), and excluding cognitive decline caused by other diseases. (d) Willingness of the patient to cooperate, with sufficient auditory and visual abilities to complete the tests, including the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR). (e) Right-handedness, with an Edinburgh Handedness Inventory (EHI) score of at least 40, no fixed dentures, and the ability to undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. (f) Ability to complete a 2-month follow-up assessment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (a) Vascular MCI (individuals with a history of stroke or a Hachinski Ischemia Scale [HIS] score > 5); (b) MCI caused by severe depression (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale score > 24); (c) Presence of other neurological diseases that can cause cognitive impairment (e.g., brain tumor, Parkinson's disease, encephalitis, epilepsy); (d) MCI resulting from traumatic brain injury; (e) Other systemic diseases that can cause cognitive impairment, such as thyroid dysfunction, severe anemia, syphilis, HIV, etc.; (f) Individuals with a history of psychiatric illness or congenital mental retardation; (g) Individuals with severe auditory or visual impairments that prevent cooperation with examinations. (h) Presence of pacemakers, aneurysm clips, artificial heart valves, cochlear implants, metal fragments, or foreign objects in the eyes, skin, or body that are contraindications for MRI scanning.
