Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Case group: 1. aged 13-18 years old, Han Chinese, with right-handedness as the dominant hand; 2. meeting the diagnostic criteria for major depressive disorder in the U.S. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (DSM-5); 3. without significant hearing and visual impairment; 4. without contraindications to magnetic resonance examination.According to the DSM-5, depressive disorder is considered to be accompanied by anxiety distress when the person with the disorder has at least two of the following symptoms: (1). feeling agitated or tense; (2). feeling unusually fidgety; (3). having difficulty concentrating because of worry; (4) fearing that something terrible may happen; (5). feeling that they may be losing self-control; based on the above criteria, we categorized adolescents with major depressive disorder into the group with anxiety distress group (MDD/ADS+) and the group without anxiety distress (MDD/ADS-). Healthy control group: healthy adolescents matched for age, sex, and years of education to patients with adolescent depressive disorders recruited in general secondary schools during the same period.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Case group: 1. history of epilepsy, coma, traumatic brain injury, and psychoactive substance use; 2. comorbid neurologic disorders or somatic disorders that may cause neurologic pathology; 3. comorbid severe somatic disorders; 4. contraindications to MRI scanning, such as artificial implants in the body, claustrophobia, etc.; 5. inability to cooperate with the completion of the attentional bias task and the MRI scan; Healthy control group: exclusion criteria were consistent with the case group.
