Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants will be invited based on the following inclusion criteria: (1) aged 65 years or older and residing in the community in Hong Kong, China; (2) no history of depression, chronic disease, degenerative neurologic disease, or hospitalization in the past six months; (3) not illiterate; (4) capable of walking for 30 minutes without assistance; and (5) diagnosed as physical pre-frailty. Frailty will be measured according to the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) criteria, comprising following five components: 1) Unintentional weight loss: Body mass index (BMI) 28 kg/m^2); for females: 29 kg/m^2). 4) Exhaustion: Determined by responses of "moderate amount of the time" or "most of the time" in the last week to either of the questions "I felt that everything I did was an effort" and "I could not get going." 5) Low physical activity: Evaluated using a modified International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Weekly caloric expenditure thresholds are set at > 383 kcal for males and >270 kcal for females. Each component is scored as 1 if present and 0 if absent. Total scores range from 0 to 5, categorizing participants as robust (score = 0), pre-frail (score = 1–2), or frail (score = 3–5).
