Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (a) patients diagnosed with chronic cancer pain; (b) patients previously received strong opioid analgesia other than methadone but had poor pain control and/or had intolerable opioid-related adverse effects; (c) first use of methadone for treatment-resistant cancer pain and successful conversion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (a) patients whose initial methadone switch was not at a study site; (b) discontinuation of MMT due to patient refusal or other reasons before the effective maintenance dose is reached; (c) patients who coprescribe methadone with other long-acting opioids; (d) combined with minimally invasive interventional therapy from two weeks before conversion to before completion of conversion.
