Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Age:18 to 75; 2. Participant must be accepted for cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB); 3. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification of Class I, II, or III; 4. Participant must be capable of giving signed informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Emergency surgery; 2. Aortic dissection surgery; 3. Pregnancy; 4. Severe arrhythmias, diabetes mellitus, or hyperthyroidism; 5. Previous history of cardiac surgery and neuropsychiatric disorders, as well as current diagnosis of epilepsy, psychosis, or depression; 6. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score < 24 points; 7. Presence of Parkinson’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Huntington’s disease, demyelinating diseases, post-traumatic dementia, or central nervous system infection; 8. Contraindications to MRI: presence of magnetic or metallic implants, cochlear implants, etc., in the body; 9. Severe visual or hearing impairments, severe aphasia, or limb dysfunction that may affect the assessment; 10. Preoperative organic brain lesions such as cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage identified by relevant imaging studies (head CT and/or brain MRI); 11. History of alcohol addiction or drug abuse; 12. Postoperative consciousness disorders caused by other factors; 13. Missing data or loss to follow-up after surgery; 14. Chronic liver and kidney failure; 15. Autoimmune diseases; 16. The application of drugs to interfere with the observation of cognitive function.
