18 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Aged 18 years or older, and 80 years or younger, with no gender restrictions; 2.Admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) or acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD), and requiring sequential non-invasive ventilatory support treatment after planned extubation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Known or suspected phrenic nerve dysfunction; 2.Impaired respiratory drive; 3.Presence of neuromuscular disease; 4.Contraindications for the placement of the diaphragmatic electrical activity (EAdi) 5.catheter (e.g., esophageal varices or obstruction, recent gastroesophageal surgery, 6.facial surgery or trauma, or upper gastrointestinal bleeding); 5.Facial or cranial trauma or surgery, or other anatomical abnormalities that interfere 8.with the fit of the mask; 6.Informed consent not signed; 7.Presence of hemodynamic instability; 8.Disturbance of consciousness or cognitive impairment that prevents cooperation in completing subjective comfort scores; 9.Pregnant or breastfeeding patients.
