Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age >=65 years; elderly frail patients scheduled for colonoscopy; American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification II–III; FRAIL scale score of 3–5.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with severe cardiovascular disease or severe hypertension; patients with severe hepatic or renal dysfunction; patients allergic to benzodiazepines or etomidate; patients with psychiatric disorders or long-term use of sedative medications.
