Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Stroke group (1) Hemiplegia is caused by a first occurrence of a unilateral stroke. (2) The individual can walk independently on a level surface for 10 meters or more. (3) The individual can independently rise from a chair and walk forward for 2 meters. (4) The individual can independently step over a 25 cm obstacle while walking and maintain stability for 2 meters. (5) The individual can independently ascend and descend three steps of a staircase measuring 16 cm high, 81 cm wide, and 28 cm deep. (6) There are no ataxia, unconsciousness, auditory, or visual impairments, and the individual can follow instructions as requested. (7) The screening assessment score for post-stroke cognitive impairment is greater than 24, indicating good cognitive ability. (8) The individual voluntarily signs the informed consent form. Control group (1) No serious cardiovascular, neurological, or musculoskeletal diseases. (2) Ability to walk independently, overcome obstacles, sit and stand up, and ascend and descend stairs. (3) No use of medications that may affect gait (such as sedatives, muscle relaxants, etc.). (4) Participants must agree to participate in the experiment and sign an informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Stroke group (1) Not a first stroke; recurrent stroke after the initial event. (2) The presence of other neurological or musculoskeletal diseases not caused by stroke, which affect gait. (3) The presence of significant sensory deficits, as well as consciousness, auditory, or visual impairments. (4) Cerebrovascular condition is progressing or vital signs are unstable. (5) The individual is unwilling to sign the informed consent form. Control group (1) Presence of significant gait abnormalities or movement disorders, such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease. (2) Recent (within the last 6 months) history of lower limb fractures or ligament injuries. (3) Participants who have recently undergone lower limb surgery. (4) Presence of severe cognitive impairments that hinder understanding of the experiment’s purpose and procedures.
