Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: a. Age>= 60 years, gender unrestricted. b. Patients with a past or current diagnosis of unipolar depression (single or recurrent episodes) according to the ICD-10 criteria, confirmed by two attending physicians. c. A score of >= 14 on the 24-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS), with stable pharmacological treatment for at least two weeks. d. Patients are able to understand and cooperate with the treatment. e. Informed consent form has been signed.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: a. Patients with severe suicidal risk. b. Patients with a Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score of less than 24. c. Patients who meet the diagnostic criteria for any other mental disorder in the ICD-10, in addition to depression. d. Patients with severe somatic diseases resulting in impaired function of vital organs, or who cannot complete the treatment requirements due to other somatic diseases. e. Patients who are simultaneously receiving other forms of psychotherapy or participating in other therapeutic studies. f. Patients using central nervous system stimulants, antipsychotics, anti-dementia medications, or anti-Parkinson’s drugs concurrently. g. Patients who have received electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) with or without convulsions, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), or deep brain stimulation (DBS) within the past 3 months.
