Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 15-60 years old and diagnosed as schizophrenia by an attending psychiatrist according to the International Classification of Disease-10 (ICD-10) criteria.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Severe physical diseases, a comorbid diagnosis of other psychiatric disorder(s) and/or substance dependence, chronic/acute infection within the past four weeks or taking anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids or antibiotics currently, was pregnant or breastfeeding, organic mental disorders caused by traumatic brain injury, infection, tumors, etc.
