Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for normal pregnant women and patients: Ages between 18 and 40 years, gestational age between 20 and 34 weeks. Singleton pregnancies, with signed informed consent. Patient inclusion criteria are based on the ‘Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy (2020)’. The definition of preeclampsia is a blood pressure greater than 140/90 mm Hg, along with the presence of 300 mg of protein in a 24-hour urine sample. The definition of severe preeclampsia includes: systolic blood pressure greater than 160 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure greater than 110 mm Hg, with more than 5 g of protein excreted in a 24-hour urine sample, and one or more of the following conditions: intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) less than the 10th percentile, persistent neurological symptoms (headache, visual disturbances), HELLP syndrome: hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes (greater than twice the normal level), oliguria (less than 500 mL in 24 hours), serum creatinine greater than 1.0 mg/dL, and low platelet count (below 100,000 cells/µL).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria include pregnant women with multiple fetuses, as well as those with severe extra-genital conditions, including diabetes, kidney disease, and cardiovascular diseases.
