Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The diagnosis of probable AD is based on the AD diagnostic criteria proposed by NINCDS-ADRDA. (1) aged 50-85 years, regardless of gender; (2) patients with mild or moderate AD, with MMSE scores greater than 10 and less than 26; (3) with primary school education or above; (4) on continuous and stable dose of medication for one month prior to the treatment; and (5) voluntarily participating and signing an informed consent form together with their legal guardian. Based on the diagnostic criteria for depressive disorders and depressive episodes in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) published by the American Psychiatric Association; (1) aged between 18 and 60 years old; (2) outpatient or inpatient; (3) signed written informed consent; (4) meeting the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria: major depressive disorder (single or recurrent episode), assessed through the Chinese version of the Brief International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI); and (5) signed a written consent form. Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: AD exclusion criteria: (1) Vascular MCI (history of stroke, Hachinski Index of Ischemia Scale (HIS) >5 points); (2) MCI caused by severe depression (Geriatric Depression Scale =11 points); (3) other neurological disorders (e.g., brain tumour, Parkinson's disease, encephalitis, epilepsy, etc.) causing cognitive dysfunction; (4) dementia caused by traumatic brain injury; (5) other systemic diseases causing cognitive impairment, such as thyroid dysfunction, severe anaemia, syphilis, HIV, etc.; (6) history of psychosis or congenital mental retardation; (7) severe hearing or visual impairment; (8) mental retardation, or congenital mental retardation; or (9) mental retardation. (5) Other systemic diseases that can cause cognitive impairment, such as thyroid dysfunction, severe anaemia, syphilis, HIV, etc.; (6) People with a history of mental illness or congenital mental retardation; (7) People with severe hearing and vision impairment who cannot cooperate with the examination; (8) Contraindications to MRI scanning such as pacemakers, aneurysm clips, prosthetic heart valves, ear implants, metal fragments, and foreign objects in the eyes, skin, or the body. DD exclusion criteria: (1) severe mental illness such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc.; (2) current anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, mental retardation; (3) psychotic symptoms with strong suicidal ideation or impulses (HAMD-17 suicidality entry >3 points); (4) history of substance dependence/abuse or current illness (within 3 months); (5) received electroconvulsive treatment; (6) persons with any physical/psychiatric illness that affects cognitive functioning or persons who were uncooperative in the examination.
