18 Years to 70 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Between 18 and 70 years of age 2. Within 48 hours of onset 3. Have a preliminary diagnosis of AP; meet 2 of the following 3 criteria: 1) have abdominal pain characteristic of acute pancreas; 2) have serum amylase and/or lipase 3 times more than the upper limit of normal; 3) have imaging manifestations characteristic of acute pancreatitis.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. family members of investigators directly involved in the trial 2. patients with a known history of severe cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, or hepatic disease, defined as (1) class II or greater heart failure, (2) active myocardial ischemia or (3) previous cardiovascular intervention within 60 days, (4) a history of cirrhosis of the liver, or (5) chronic renal disease with a creatinine clearance of <40 mL/min, or (6) pre-existing diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), HIV/AIDS, etc. Patients with pre-existing immunologic diseases such as AIDS 3. pregnancy pancreatitis, history of chronic pancreatitis, malignancy-related AP 4. patients who, in the opinion of the investigator, are not justified for inclusion, e.g., patients expected to die within 48 hours of enrollment 5. transfer from a lower level hospital where the onset of illness has exceeded 48 hours
