Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Diagnosis of periodontitis according to the 2018 diagnostic criteria for periodontal disease (developed by the American Academy of Periodontology and the European Federation of Periodontology); (2) The patient's age was 18 years or older; (3) The CBCT image is clear and shows the complete anatomy of the maxillary sinus and associated teeth.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Acute inflammation of the maxillary sinus with elevated levels of fluid in the sinus and cysts; (2) Maxillary posterior dental implants; (3) Periapical lesions and caries, fractures, root canals or previous periodontal treatment and missing maxillary posterior teeth (except for missing maxillary third molar); (4) For the purpose of comparing the classification of root bifurcation lesions, cases with fused roots of the maxillary second molar were excluded; (5) Received systemic antibiotic therapy within the last 3 months; (6) Pregnancy and lactation; (7) History of seasonal or pollen allergic reactions; (8) Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; (9) Maxillary mucosal cysts or bony septa; (10) History of periodontal surgery in the maxillary posterior region.
