Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: This study plans to enroll elderly patients aged 60-80 years who are scheduled to undergo major non-cardiac surgery between January 2025 and December 2025. The specific inclusion criteria are as follows: 1). Age between 60 and 80 years; 2). Scheduled to undergo one of the following types of surgery: abdominal surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery for traumatic fractures, or hip or knee replacement surgery; 3). Willing to participate and sign an informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria: 1). Refusal of study informed consent; 2). Inability to communicate effectively due to issues with vision, hearing, language, etc; 3). History of central nervous system disorders (stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc.); 4). History of mental illness (schizophrenia, depression, etc.); 5). Presence of significant physical illnesses (paralysis, amputation, etc.); 6). History of major surgery within the past year (radical resection for tumors, cardiac surgery, etc.); 7). Severe dysfunction of major organ systems; 8). Regular use of antipsychotic or sedative-hypnotic medications within the past month; 9). Preoperative MMSE score below the cut-off value corresponding to education level (illiterate <=17, primary school <=20, junior high school and above <=24).
