Patellofemoral Pain

Interventions

High-load group:With a load of 70% 1RM, perform seated leg extension exercises.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation Group(EMS Group):Perform seated leg extension exercises with a load of 30% 1RM, +EMS.
Blood Flow Restriction Group (BFR Group):Perform seated leg extension exercises with a load of 30% 1RM, +BRF.
Blood Flow Restriction Combined with Electrical Muscle Stimulation Group (BFR+EMS Group):Perform seated leg extension exercises with a load of 30% 1RM, +BFR+EMS.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1)Meeting the diagnostic criteria for patellofemoral pain (PFP) established by the 2016 International Patellofemoral Pain Research Retreat [1]: pain around or behind the patella, with at least one activity exacerbating the pain, such as prolonged sitting, stair climbing, squatting, running, kneeling, or jumping. (2)A Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain score of >=3 cm during daily activities in the week prior to the assessment. (3)Unilateral involvement with pain symptoms lasting for more than 3 months, without receiving professional or systematic related treatment. (4)Patients aged 18-40 years diagnosed with PFP.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1)Suffering from other knee joint disorders, such as patellar instability, patellofemoral dysplasia, meniscus or ligament tears, osteoarthritis, or tendinopathy. (2)Participants found to be at high risk of venous thrombosis (e.g., having undergone lower limb surgery in the past 6 months or with cardiovascular diseases), diabetes, unexplained chest pain, or heart disease. (3)Having any contraindications to exercise, such as osteoarticular disorders, severe cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases, or physical dysfunction. (4)Contraindications to electrical stimulation. (5)Currently participating in other clinical trials that may affect the outcome evaluation of this study.
