Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. History of ankle sprain > 1 times, manifested as an inflammatory reaction of "redness, swelling, heat and pain" after the sprain, and no weight-bearing activities on the injured side can be carried out for at least 1 day after the sprain 2. More than 1 year after the first sprain; 3. The most recent sprain is more than 3 months ago; 4. No history of fracture or surgery in both lower limbs; 5. No history of other injuries that lead to the inability to bear weight on both lower limbs in the past 3 months 6. The Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) score < 24 points (range 0-30, lower scores reflect greater ankle instability), and if both feet have CAI, choose the side with the lower CAIT score 7. Participant meets the criteria for fNIRS and aTDCS safety practices
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. History of previous surgery on the musculoskeletal structures (i.e., bones, joint structures, and nerves) of either lower limb 2. Have a history of lower limb fractures 3. Acute injury to the musculoskeletal structure of other joints of the lower extremity within the past 3 months that affects the integrity and function of the joint (i.e., sprain, fracture), resulting in disruption of expected physical activity for at least 1 day
