Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Reflux esophagitis group: 1.Age 18 years or older; 2.Diagnosis of RE confirmed from clinical symptoms, endoscopy, and histology according to diagnostic and treatment guidelines. endoscopy suggestive of esophageal mucosal breakdown, erosion, or ulceration supported by histologic evidence; 3.no PPI or other antiacid therapy, no recent use of antibiotics, probiotics, or other medications that affect the microbiota; 4.no history of gastrointestinal surgery and no history of other gastrointestinal disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, peptic ulcer, etc; 5.No pregnancy or breastfeeding; 6.No major co-morbidities such as malignant tumors, severe cardiovascular disease, hepatic or renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, active infectious diseases, etc; 7.Voluntarily participate in the study and sign the informed consent form. Control group: 1. Age above 18 years old; 2. No symptoms such as heartburn, acid reflux, chest pain, etc., and endoscopic examination suggests that the esophageal mucosa is intact, with no breakage, erosion or ulceration; 3. No recent use of antibiotics, probiotics, or other drugs affecting the microbiota; 4. No history of gastrointestinal diseases; 5. No pregnancy or breastfeeding; 6. No history of the rest of the major diseases, such as malignant tumors, serious cardiovascular disease, hepatic or renal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, active infectious disease, etc.; 7. Voluntary participation in the study and signing the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Reflux esophagitis group:esophageal tumours, oesophageal hiatal hernia, oesophageal varices and other conditions causing similar symptoms. Control group:esophageal tumours, oesophageal hiatal hernia, oesophageal varices and other conditions causing similar symptoms.
