Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Malignant tumors of esophagus and cardia recorded in the SEER database, 2004-2015.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: · Esophageal cancer in the cervical or upper third of the esophagus and indefinitely located · Siewert type I, III and indeterminate malignancy of the esophagogastric junction · Histological type is non-adenocarcinoma · Not undergoing surgery · Not receiving preoperative radiation or chemotherapy · Other malignancies previously diagnosed with esophageal or cardia malignancy · Distant metastases · Regional lymph node unknown or not meeting AJCC pathological staging criteria · Tumor size and extension of invasion unknown or not meeting AJCC pathological staging criteria · TNM staging cannot be converted to ypTNM staging · Patients with unknown information
