Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: A. meet the diagnostic criteria for primary insomnia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fifth Edition (DSM-V); B. adults between the ages of 18 and 75; C. A total score of =8 on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI); D. Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) score between 8 and 21; E. a total score of =27 on the Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE) scale and no cognitive impairment; F. right-handedness; G. informed consent and voluntary participation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A. Suffering from severe cardiovascular, hepatic, renal or hematopoietic diseases; B. insomnia is caused by a neurologic disorder (e.g., stroke, Parkinson's disease); and C. have been taking anti-insomnia medication within the month prior to participation in the screening; D. subjects with a Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) score of greater than or equal to 14 with moderate or severe depression; E. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) scores greater than or equal to 60 on both the SAI and TAI scales for subjects with moderate or severe anxiety; F. pregnant or lactating women. G. Subjects who are participating in other research trials that affect the results of this study.
