Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The sepsis group included: 1. From October 2024 to October 2025, patients were admitted to the emergency Department and Emergency intensive Medicine Department of Yushan Hospital, Union Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University; 2. Patients =18 years old 3. Patients diagnosed with sepsis. Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for sepsis and septic shock as defined in Sepsis 3.0 were included. 4. The patient received standardized treatment for sepsis. The healthy control group was healthy volunteers from the Health Examination Center of Union Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University and matched with the age and sex of sepsis patients from October 2024 to October 2025. The Bristol Stool Score is 4-5 points.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for sepsis group: 1. Active malignant tumor or history of malignant tumor and use of antitumor drugs; 2. 2. Acquired immune deficiency syndrome; 3. History of autoimmune disease; 4. Combined with enterostomy; 5. Gastrointestinal bleeding or cirrhosis; 6. History of end-stage renal disease or hemodialysis; 7. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation before admission; 8. Poisoning; 9. Pregnancy and perinatal period; 10. Use of antibiotics in the past 3 months. Exclusion criteria for healthy control group: 1. History of antibiotic treatment, constipation and diarrhea in the past 3 months.
