Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a. CAI Group: Participants with a history of at least one significant ankle sprain, subjective reports of "giving way" in the previously injured ankle, subsequent sprain episodes and/or a feeling of ankle instability, a Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) score below 24, a Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM-ADL) score of 90% or less, and a FAAM-Sports (FAAM-S) score of 80% or less. b. Healthy Control Group (Con Group): 20 healthy individuals with no history of ankle sprains, a Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) and its Sports version (FAAM-S) score of 98% or above. All participants must have engaged in at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity at least three times per week during the past three months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants must not have experienced any injury to the contralateral (healthy) ankle for at least 6 months prior to testing; no participant should be undergoing rehabilitation for the injured ankle before starting the testing procedures; and during the testing period or throughout their participation in the study, the injured ankle must not exhibit any symptoms of pain, swelling, or functional limitations. Participants must be at least 18 years old, able to provide informed consent, and self-report as healthy, with no musculoskeletal injuries to the lower limbs in the past three months. Participants will be excluded if they are pregnant, have any current unresolved conditions, or have any neurological, musculoskeletal, or cardiopulmonary injuries.
