Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Age: 18 to 89 years old; 2.Meet Sepsis-3 criteria (i.e. an acute change in total SOFA score =2 points consequent to the infection);
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Pregnant or breastfeeding women; 2.Previously diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy (including dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, etc.), valvular heart disease with hemodynamic changes or post-valve replacement, congenital heart disease; 3.Previously identified on resting echocardiography as heart failure with impaired ejection fraction (left ventricular ejection fraction 70 mmHg); 4.Allergy to gadolinium contrast agents, or a history of adverse reactions or kidney injury following the use of gadolinium contrast agents; 5.Presence of an MRI-incompatible cardiac pacemaker, metal valve, or other metal or magnetic implants. 6.Having claustrophobia or being unable to cooperate or remain still; 7.Patients with tracheal intubation, or those critically ill and deemed by the attending physician as unsuitable for prolonged MRI examination outside the care setting. 8.Patients with acute kidney injury, stage 4 or stage 5 chronic kidney damage (estimated glomerular filtration rate <30 ml/min/1.73 m²) who, upon evaluation by the attending physician, are deemed unsuitable for contrast-enhanced MRI;
