Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The autism spectrum disorder meets the diagnostic criteria for autism in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-V) published by the American Psychiatric Association, with a definitive diagnosis issued by a hospital of tertiary care and above. Subjects were aged 2-10 years old, of either sex, with informed consent from the guardian of the subject who signed an informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion were as follows: (i) previous supplementation with growth hormone, IGF-1 and other growth hormone analogues; (ii) periodontal diseases such as gingival bleeding and inflammation; and (iii) malignant tumours and acute infectious diseases.
