Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Patients aged 18 years or older; (2) Patients who remained on periodontal maintenance therapy during the follow-up period after initial periodontal therapy; (3) Transarch, tooth support, fixed denture restorations were performed on the upper or/and lower jaw, and at least 6 consecutive units (abutments and pontics) were completely supported by the teeth without stress interruption; (4) Abutments were present in sufficient number (= 4) and distributed bilaterally before receiving restorations; (5) Patients were diagnosed with stage III/IV periodontitis at the time of initial diagnosis, and when patients were not definitely diagnosed with stage III/IV periodontitis, they were considered to be diagnosed with "severe periodontitis", "advanced periodontitis", or/and alveolar bone resorption extending into the root of the tooth or apical third; (6) All patients underwent adequate periodontal basic therapy before formal restorations.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients with night bruxism, clenching teeth, masticatory muscle discomfort, joint disease and other symptoms; (2) lack of basic information and subsequent data of patients; (3) Patients with uncontrolled immunodeficiency diseases, infectious diseases, blood system diseases and systemic diseases; (4) Patients considered unsuitable for the study by other investigators.
