Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age: 18-65 years; 2. Overweight: BMI = 24 kg/m²; 3. Impaired fasting glucose: fasting blood glucose level of 6.1-6.9 mmol/L (110-125 mg/dL); or impaired glucose tolerance: 2-hour blood glucose level of 7.8-11.0 mmol/L (140-200 mg/dL) during an oral glucose tolerance test; 4. Over the past year, a probability of 90% or higher that the interval between breakfast and dinner was at least 8.5 hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosed with diabetes or currently taking diabetes medication; 2. Secondary blood glucose abnormalities, such as those requiring hormone therapy for thyroid disease, rheumatic disease, or tumors; 3. Suffering from severe cardiovascular, renal, cardiac, hepatic, pulmonary, or neurological diseases; 4. Currently taking any medication that may affect sleep, circadian rhythm, or metabolism; 5. Regular alcohol consumption (more than twice daily); 6. Engaging in any strenuous physical activity; 7. Currently working night shifts at least one day per week or having irregular sleep/eating schedules.
