Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion Criteria for Healthy Participants: (1) Healthy adolescents aged 13-18; (2) Matched with the depression group in terms of gender, age, and education level; (3) Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) score < 19; (4) Positive and Negative Suicidal Ideation Inventory (PANSI) score < 29; (5) Normal or corrected vision, right-handed; (6) Informed consent obtained from both the participant and guardian. Inclusion Criteria for Depression Participants: (1) Meets the diagnostic criteria for depressive disorder according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10); (2) Aged 13-18, first episode of depression, in good physical health; (3) Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) score = 19; (4) Normal or corrected vision, right-handed; (5) Informed consent obtained from both the patient and guardian.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria for Healthy Participants: (1) Diagnosed with mental disorders or a history of substance abuse; (2) Previous use of psychotropic medications or received electroconvulsive therapy (ECT); (3) History of neurological disorders; (4) History of brain injury, epilepsy, or head metal implants. Exclusion Criteria for Depression Participants: (1) Diagnosed with mental disorders other than depressive disorders or a history of substance abuse; (2) Previous use of psychotropic medications or received electroconvulsive therapy (ECT); (3) History of neurological disorders; (4) History of brain injury, epilepsy, or head metal implants.
