Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: In the group of thoracic trauma with early pulmonary infection: (1) meeting the diagnostic criteria for thoracic trauma; (2) age >18 years; (3) meeting the following exclusion criteria; and (4) surviving in the intensive care unit for >5 days

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) age <18 years; (2) pregnancy; (3) use of immunoimmunosuppressive drugs, cytotoxic drugs, or steroid hormones within 3 months; (4) malignancy, acute coronary syndromes, hematologic disorders, and autoimmune disorders; (5) survival <5 d; and (6) removal of patients who were voluntarily abandoned or discharged within the course of the study.
