Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ? Patients who underwent radical esophagectomy for esophageal cancer in the Department of Thoracic Medicine of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from 2016 to 2023; ? Patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer in the middle and lower thoracic segments; ? Patients with esophageal cancer who have not undergone neoadjuvant therapy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusions were made for patients presenting with cervical and upper thoracic esophageal cancer, multi-originated esophageal cancer, individuals who underwent Sweet surgical procedures, as well as those with a history of neoadjuvant therapy including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or chemoradiotherapy for current esophageal cancer. Further exclusions were patients with an iodide or ICG allergy, distant metastasis, and unresectable esophageal cancer, specifically in cases where the tumors involved the heart, large blood vessels, trachea, or vertebral body.
