Interventions

Group A :During total neck lymph node dissection, the sternocleidomastoid muscle was retained in group A.
Group B:During total neck lymph node dissection, the sternocleidomastoid muscle was resected in group B

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Head and neck cancer patients; 2.The patient had clear evidence of cervical lymph node metastasis and received total cervical lymph node dissection plus resection of primary cancer. 3. Preoperative shoulder and neck function was normal excluding the influence of non-surgical factors on the results; 4. The patient could follow up regularly;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Preoperative radiotherapy of the neck; 2. Previous history of neck surgery; 3. Previous neck and shoulder injuries; 4. Preoperative or intraoperative analysis of tumor invasion of sternocleidomastoid muscle resulting in tumor adhesion to sternocleidomastoid muscle;
