Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) 18 years old or older; (2) Within 24 hours of ICU admission; (3) Receiving mechanical ventilation within 24 hours before ICU admission or within 24 hours of ICU admission; (4) Expected mechanical ventilation for at least 72 hours.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Expected death or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments within 48 hours from screening; (2) Pregnant or currently breastfeeding; (3) Stayed in the hospital for more than 7 days before ICU admission; (4) Who have already participated in this study; (5) Pre-existing cognitive impairment, lower limb impairment, cranial or spinal issues, neuromuscular or psychiatric disorders that interfere with the assessment of physical function prior to the ICU admission.
