Experimental group:evidence-based response self-care system for advanced cancer patients with nutrition impact symptoms

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for patients are: (a) diagnosed with advanced cancer and receiving home-based hospice care; (b) aged 18 years old or above; (c) aware of diagnosis and prognosis; (d) without verbal communication impairment or cognitive impairment; and (e) possessing a mobile communication device and able to communicate through WeChat software. The inclusion criteria for family caregivers are: (1) aged 18 or older; (2) living with a cancer patient; and (3) the main caregiver caring for the patient.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for patients: (1) having a cancer that was expected to progress rapidly (Karnofsky Performance Status Score lower than 40%); (2) receiving other nutrition interventions. Exclusion criteria for family caregivers: (1) with a history of mental illness; and (2) with a cognitive or communication disorder.
