Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Bedridden patients aged =60 years admitted to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit (NICU). (2) Patients requiring indwelling urinary catheterization due to their medical condition. (3) Patients able to provide informed consent; or in cases where patients lacked decisional capacity (e.g., impaired consciousness), informed consent was obtained from their legal guardian(s).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients who already had an indwelling urinary catheter in place upon hospital admission. (2) Patients diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) at admission or having a positive urine culture at admission. (3) Patients whose indwelling catheter duration during the current hospitalization was <=2 days. (4) Patients with perineal skin lesions or breakdown. (5) Patients with known allergies to antiseptics. (6) Patients with severe mental disorders or behavioral abnormalities preventing cooperation with the study procedures. (7) Patients concurrently participating in another clinical trial.
