Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: participants were between 18-22 years of age; (a) had a body mass index (BMI) of more than 25 kg/m^2; (b) had maintained a stable body weight over the past 12 weeks; (c) did not have chronic medical conditions or contraindications to exercise; and (d) self-reported to be sedentary (exercising for less than 20 minutes on less than 3 days per week).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria: (a) inability to complete consecutive exercise interventions; (b) development of an exercise injury; (c) withdrawal for personal reasons; (d) insufficient duration of exercise intervention
