Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients under 18 years of age with acute hydrocephalus, treated initially with EVD followed by VP shunt placement, were eligible for inclusion.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: VP shunt is performed at a certain interval after EVD; patients who died due to the primary disease within a short period of time after VP shunt surgery.
