Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria for enrollment were age over 18 years, a diagnosis of Bruxism according to the positive findings for one or more of the following symptoms: (i) awareness of their tooth-grinding activity during sleep or awake (ii) frequent reports of stiffness, fatigue or discomfort in the jaw-closing muscles upon awakening; (iii) masseter muscle hypertrophy during voluntary contractions and (iv) tooth wear and/or shiny spots on dental restorations.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria were a history of neurologic or psychiatric disorders; the use of prescription medicine or drugs with possible sleep effects or alterations of motor behavior; currently being under medical or dental treatment; having a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator; the loss of more than two posterior teeth except third molars; or having removable partial or full dentures.
