Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) 18-80 years old; 2) Sepsis was defined as a suspected or proven infection, in combination with a Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score at admission of =2, concordant with the sepsis-3 definitions; 3) Patients who had an expected minimum length of hospital stay of 72h.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) general contraindications for enteral nutrition, eg. short bowel syndrome, without pathway for enteral nutrition; 2) uncompensated hemodynamic failure of any origin, norepinephrine =0.3ug/kg/min or equivalent dose vasoactive agent or blood lactate =4mmol/L; 3) moderate to severe liver dysfunction; 4) pregnancy; 5) The expected survival time is less than 7 days eg. end-stage malignancy, CPR was performed 7 days prior to the study; 6) Plant survival state.
