Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Patients diagnosed with atlantoaxial instability ; (2) with or without symptoms of spinal cord injury such as sensory and motor function of limbs; (3) conservative treatment was not effective or patients strongly requested surgical treatment; (4) All patients underwent atlantoaxial surgery with clear surgical indications; (5) All operations were performed by the same senior surgeon team.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) patients with tuberculosis, brucellosis and other infections; (2) patients with tumor, cervical deformity or thoracolumbar scoliosis; (3) combined with lower cervical or thoracolumbar surgery; (4) anterior atlantoaxial fixation; (5) users of atlas lateral mass screw fixation and other non-pedicle screw fixation techniques; (6) Fluoroscopy guidance or CT navigation system was used to guide atlas screw placement during operation. (7) the patient's mental disorder was unable to cooperate during follow-up period; (8) patients with incomplete medical history and imaging data
